The general conception in the collision industry is that all paint products are similar. That is simply not true. There are huge differences in technology. Diamont products were chemically developed at BASF laboratories to be used as a true basecoat-clear coat paint system. Most paint manufacturers have to add balancers and binders to their single stage toners to create their basecoat products. This decreases the coverage by up to fifty percent and creates an unstable basecoat. Diamont is formulated using Polyester based technology, which eliminates the need for balancers and binders, creating a more stable basecoat and dramatically improving coverage. Polyester technology significantly reduces material costs to the shop.

BASF continues to lead the refinish industry in technology with the recent introductions of patented clear coats, which cure from the outer surface down, decreasing cycle time by half. A new direct to metal (DTM) undercoat, which can be used as a surfacer or a sealer without the use of adhesion promoters or etch primers, sprays direct to any substrate.

DIAMONT DC5100 & DC5300 Clearcoat

Diamont continues to lead the industry in improved technology. Diamont's patented DC5100 clear has revolutionized the clear-coating process by reversing drying technology and reducing drying time by fifty percent. Conventional clears cure from the surface of the vehicle up, requiring at minimum 12 hours to cure before buffing. Using DC5100, the vehicle is baked to maintain metal temperature for ten minutes at 120 degrees to achieve a surface cure. The unique characteristic of DC5100, is that the clear cures from the surface down. Allow the car to be buffed two hours after the car has been baked.

By reducing the baking cycle by 50%, the shop increases productivity in the paint shop and reduces the paint booth gas bill by 30%. Typically, vehicles can be delivered a day earlier, improving customer service. DC5100 enables shops to produce more work through the booth by the combination of shorter bake cycles and the ability to spray, polish and deliver the job on the same day.
